Shopping At Walmart. Where Have All The Generics Gone?!!!

I don't know about you, but my Walmart has taken off the shelves a lot of their Generics. The Great Value Brand. Now maybe in my area it causes them to loose money. Walmart really doesn't have much in the way of competition here, so i guess they think they can make up the money by making us buy the name brands and they actually make money on those. I really don't complain about things but now I have to go to 3-4 stores to save money. I don't buy name brand because most generics are just as good. Thank Heavens, I have a Kroger here. They have their generic brand on everything and such a variety. I hope no one takes this the wrong way. It isn't a Diss on Walmart. I love going their just as much as the next person. I just wondered if I was the only one. Plus I would like your ideas about getting around this.

Thank You For Stopping By!
Have A Great Day!

  1. I don't know if I have noticed that or not. I seem to buy more of my beauty supplies at Target, especially since there is a new one in my town. I do buy mostly generics, but lately, I am thinking I need to do the CVS thing and get most of our needfuls for free or a lot less.
    Any way to save money!!

  2. I haven't noticed it here but I did do a big big stock up on Green Giant can foods at WalMart before Thanksgiving. They had them for fifty cents a can!!!! And they didn't expire until 2012. Need I say that I bought probably 60 cans of corn, 60 peas, 60 green beans!!! I'm good to go for at least a year!!!

I'm really big at shopping at Target. We have one here that is just awesome at marking things down. Just today I bought some poptarts for $1.18. I buy my cereal, juice boxes, CheeseIts, crackers, cookies, pop, detergent, vitamins, prescriptions are sooooo much faster at Target!

I love Target!!! Last year I was at Walmart returning something and they had just been to Target and they were comparing prices right there in front of everyone and not waiting on us. Let me tell you we were all upset. It took me a little while to figure out what they were doing but once I did I was shocked that they would do that instead waiting on their customers. I figured they did do that comparing prices but behind doors!

I'm one of those shoppers that when I find a really good deal I will buy up as much as I can. Then I just put it in my pantry. I've been doing it that way for so long that I really only need to buy meat, milk, eggs and things like that when I shop and then just look for the good deals.

I bought curtains at Target that were marked down to $7!!!! I can't make them for that!!! I have bought shorts and shirts for my boy at Kohl's in the Winter for $1.00.

What can I say! I'm a POWER SHOPPER!!! hehehehehe

If you go to Kohls, go to the service desk and sign up for emails they will send you a coupon to get $5 off anything in the store.

Target has coupons on their web page! You can even print them out at the store!!!

I have went to the manufacturers page and they have coupons there also. There are times that I save $15 just in coupons which is usually when I don't have the kids with me and I can look around.

Looks like I should do a post on all of my shopping skills! lol

    God Bless!

  3. I love generics too. I only have two things that we "have* to have name brands and the others we just get the best deal. We go to Kroger most often (I love their generics), so I'm not sure about our Wal-mart and generics. Ours is so hard to get in and out of (parking lot and check out), that I tend to not go there for groceries, just other things.

Do you have an Aldi? I do try to go in there once a month or so too.
